A puppet-animation used as a commercial, which lasted 10 minutes, for the Dutch dairy board. Here the typical Dutch figure “Dutchy” invites guests from all over the world to promote Dutch dairy products.
The big commercial success from a previous Dutchy film A Dream Comes True (1955) screamed for a sequal. With Dutchy in the lead role several shorter films were made with a length of approx. 2 minutes. This time Cor Icke did the animation. Composer Dolf van der Linden was already a well-known person at the studios. He wrote more "Dutchy" scores before.
Trivia
Holland Invites The World has a runtime of 10 minutes and was used as a intro-film at the cinema’s. It could compete with Disney movies with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, which had a similar runtime.
Not rarely was a long commercial like this explicitly referred to as an intro-film in the cinema’s. It is not known whether that was a sponsored listing. Dutchy became as well a trademark image for the Dutch dairy board as a trademark image for Dutch culture. Dutchy films confirmed the image abroad that all Dutch men wears wooden shoes and all women a costume. See also the notes to the film Dutchy - "Band stand" (1955).
According to a post in De Tijd on the 12th of February 1962, the film from 1957 won a prize after 5 years!
