Advertising film for Players (Navy Cut) Cigarettes

Naughty sailor?
"Pleasure bound": Where you find the fun, or: where the fun comes together.
This cinema ad (1960) shows what a sailor is like when he comes back to shore after a long time at sea. We follow him through streets, where music sounds from cafes. The streets darken and a red lantern is lit here and there. At a window, we see a silhouette of a graceful lady. You can see her checking her make-up with a mirror for a moment. Then the sailor enters and he indicates what he has come for.
An original way to hold the viewer's attention.
Trivia
On the theme of ‘fun’, Geesink made several films for Player's. Although both starred a seaman, these characters have nothing in common. The similarity must be attributed to the sailor depicted on the packet of cigarettes. Another film is called ‘Pleasure Revived’ (1958).
A working title was published in trade journals: “Bachelor Players” / “Bachelor Players”. Another title is ‘Saving Pleasure’ (1960) But there are also mentions of the production of ‘Players III’ (1958). A working title is not always the title with which the film goes into circulation. Two of the films we have been able to accommodate here. It may be noted that the films were produced in relatively short succession.
De matroos op de verpakking heeft geen enkele visuele overeenkomst met de matroos uit de film. Mogelijk is dat een bewuste keuze geweest om de verrassing in de ontknoping te behouden.
